The word “Nichi” (\u306b\u3061)<\/strong> corresponds to the kanji \u300c\u65e5\u300d<\/strong>, which means “day” as in “every day” and is also the “\u65e5” in “Japan” (\u65e5\u672c).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want travelers visiting Japan to feel the warmth and comfort of home every day they stay with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every building has its own unique background and story. We have carefully renovated and preserved a traditional Showa-era<\/strong> Japanese residential building, allowing visitors from overseas to not only explore Japan\u2019s tourist attractions but also experience the daily life and living culture of ordinary Japanese people\u2014understanding the essence of Japanese life, one detail at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nichika Guesthouse<\/strong> is located in Maruyama, Funabashi City<\/strong>. The building was constructed during the peak of Japan’s bubble economy in the Heisei era<\/strong>. The first floor was once an izakaya (Japanese pub)<\/strong>, while the second floor served as a residence. This “shop on the ground floor, residence above”<\/strong> style was very common during the Showa and early Heisei eras<\/strong>. Since both floors have separate entrances, the second floor can also be used independently. This structure is similar to Hong Kong\u2019s “shop-house”<\/strong>, Taiwan\u2019s “jie-wu (street house)”<\/strong>, and Singapore\u2019s “shophouse”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

n 2016<\/strong>, the former izakaya was converted into a general retail store. Then, during the global lockdown in 2020<\/strong>, Japanese lifestyles underwent significant changes. By 2022<\/strong>, the first floor was renovated again, transforming it into a Japanese-style living room<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, this building has been reborn as a 100-square-meter, 3LDK standalone home<\/strong>, offering a cozy and inviting stay for travelers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
